Dug Down Deep - A Book You Should Read

First of all as a general warning, I do not believe everything exactly like Joshua Harris does. Particularly I don't believe in the Trinity.

But that aside, you NEED to read this book:

Dug Down Deep

It's a book that will make you think about what you believe and why.

It builds up a foundation under you, based not on "what my parents think", "what the preacher said", but what God said. It makes you search the scriptures for yourself, and think

Frankly it has had the effect on me of throwing out some "men's traditions", but mostly it has had the effect of increasing my faith in God, and what I believe about God.

It places a great emphasis on knowing God in a deep way, not because I fear Him, but because I love Him, and want to get to know him better.

When We Make Mistakes

It is easy to run away from them, disclaim them, and act like they didn't happen. Blame them on circumstances, disadvantages, and our own inabilities.
It is much more difficult to own up to them, apologize, and do whatever it takes to make it right. In these times, we must have the ability to put away our pride, look the mistake in the face, and say, "I'm sorry."
As they say, those are possibly the hardest words to utter, but often necessary. The sooner a person can learn to say them, the better off they will be.

Live. Learn. Love

The moment you stop growing, you begin to die.
The moment you stop learning, your memory starts to cease.
The moment you stop loving, you begin to hate.

Live. Learn. Love.

Sniff. Sniff (Here On Earth)

I wrote this a while back, and never posted it...

I just watched "Here On Earth", and for the second time I remember, cried in a movie. Yeah. Probably shouldn't admit that. I'm a sucker for a certain type of romances I'm afraid. (Not gonna give away what type or it might ruin it.)

One part to skip through, but mostly just really good and clean (best I remember).

Anyhow, watch it!

Moms. Are. Awesome.

I went to Grandma's for her 80th birthday over the last few days. (I'm planning to put up some videos and pictures of that at some point).

Mom's birthday was Tuesday, Grandma's was sometime this week, and of course Mother's Day is today, so it seems a good time to write a post on.

---------------------------------------------------------

There are really two definitions of mother for me:
1. Mother: [muther] --- A female who has a kid
2. Mother: [muther] --- A mother who puts her child above herself; loving it, providing for it, comforting it, teaching it, correcting it, crying with it, fixing it's problems if at all possible, etc...

There are many mothers of the first definition, not nearly so many with the second. I'm blessed to have the most wonderful mother in the world. I know many people may think that, but I KNOW it.

Thank you to all you mothers of the second definition, and especially to my mom!!!

Food Test - Club Cracker Crumbs in Hamburger

In a plate - left includes crumbs of Club Crackers. Right is normal salt and pepper.

In the pan.

Club cracker (I meant to take a picture of it before tearing into it but forgot.

It was decent, slightly too buttery tasting for me.

(I decided I prefer the regular old burger smothered in Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce.)

If I died tonight

what real change would I have made in this world? Not how much money did I have, how many friends I had (although I have awesome friends), not what profit or loss I had produced where I work... What eternal change would I have made? How many people had I encouraged? Helped lead to Jesus? I know we're not saved by works but by grace, but that is no excuse not to work and try to make a real difference, out of love for God, and love for others.

Don't use the gianormous dryer! It may hold a lot, but it takes decades to dry stuff. (I learned this my first trip here, but every time I come another gullible person does it.)

Who Says Goodwill Doesn't Have Deals?

I used to go to a particular Goodwill, and never found anything worth buying.
$15 used jeans and $12 shirts aren't deals when they're used.
So today I was going to Dollar General for some tooth floss, and thought, "hey I'll go into Goodwill really quick."
Ten minutes later and I was out with these. $7.75 + tax.
I guess I'll give Goodwill another try. BTW this was the Goodwill behind The Chef on South Lee Highway. http://www.goodwillchatt.org

Sometimes

Sometimes love is hanging on to something you don't want. More often it's letting go of something you do want.

Real love is unselfish at its core.

Yeah that's a really burnt grilled cheese sandwich... That's what happens when you forget about it and go to church.

They sell eggs in 6 packs! Oh yeah!

Wow those are some expensive basketballs.

'Cause Nothin' (in this world) Lasts Forever

After work last week, I got home to my apartment, and thought to myself, "All this snow, and I haven't even been out in it."

So I went outside next to my apartment and made a huge snowman.

Yesterday I noticed that apparently my neighbors (I assume) had made two more snowmen, and all three snowmen were shriveling up.

I went out today to take a picture, and this is what they were reduced to.

At least mine has a tummy : )
